Jim Harbaugh's immediate reaction following Michigan's loss to Georgia: 'It wasn't our night'
It has been a fantastic season for No. 2 Michigan, who ended their 2021 season on a disastrous 34-11 loss to No. 3 Georgia in the Orange Bowl semifinal matchup.
Michigan was dominated on both sides of the ball by Georgia as Michigan did not have an answer to the aggressiveness of Georgia.
Former walk-on quarterback Stetson Bennett had one of his best games for Georgia by throwing 20-of-30 completions for 313 yards and 3 touchdowns against Michigan. Georgia outgained Michigan in total yards accounted for 521-to-328.
There was one thing going for Michigan in the tough loss. There was a freshman-to-freshman touchdown from quarterback J.J. McCarthy to wide receiver Andrel Anthony for a 35-yard passing score.
After the game, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh acknowledged the tough loss to Georgia, but he felt positive about his team moving forward. He felt that now that his team has developed the experience of being in a playoff situation, they will be back.
Jim Harbaugh: "Great season, really proud of our guys. … They were having a lot of fun fighting. But it wasn't our night. (Georgia) was the better team."
