JJ McCarthy is making plays early for Michigan in the B1G Championship Game. He converted some big plays on the opening drive vs. Purdue and put the Wolverines on the board with a strike to Colston Loveland.

The call was a play-action pass with Loveland streaking down the sideline. While the safety read the play and was rotating over on coverage, he was a bit late.

Loveland was also too big for his defenders, skying over the secondary for a contested grab and the game’s opening score:

Also on the drive, McCarty converted a key 3rd-down play by scrambling around before converting with a strike to Ronnie Bell. It’s just the opening moments of the game in Indianapolis, but the QB for the Wolverines is flashing good signs early.
