JJ McCarthy didn’t have much to say after the Fiesta Bowl loss, but he made his point nonetheless.
“They’re a good football team, no matter what it is, they got the win,” said McCarthy in reference to TCU’s 51-45 victory. “There’s a lot of things we could’ve done better. Can’t wait to watch the tape, and we’ll be back, I promise that.”
McCarthy then got up and walked out of the press conference.

McCarthy finished 20-of-34 for 343 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. McCarthy also added 1 rushing TD and 52 rushing yards.
The loss caps off what was otherwise an impressive season for the young QB. McCarthy had 2,376 passing yards in the regular season, leading the Wolverines to a perfect 12-0 record. McCarthy would then lead the Wolverines to a win over Purdue in the B1G Championship, leading to a No. 2 ranking in the final College Football Playoff rankings.
TCU awaits the winner of the Georgia-Ohio State matchup to see who the Horned Frogs will face for the championship.
