JJ McCarthy in Indy: Social media reacts to QBs hot first half in B1G Championship Game
JJ McCarthy is making some plays in the B1G Championship Game for Michigan.
Playing against Purdue without Heisman candidate Blake Corum, the Boilermakers have been able to limit the ground game and Donovan Edwards. That has led to an increased usage of McCarthy in the passing game.
McCarthy has responded, going 7-for-11 for 90 yards passing and a pair of first-half touchdowns. He also has 3 carries for 6 yards but that doesn’t tell the full impact of McCarthy’s legs.
Multiple times, the Wolverine QB has been under pressure from Purdue’s defensive front. Time and time again, McCarthy has been able to dance around — both in and out of the pocket — to buy time for his receivers, including on his touchdown throw to Luke Schoonmaker.
Heading into halftime, it’s even clearer in the B1G Championship why McCarthy won the starting quarterback position of Cade McNamara back in September. Fans and media alike on social media are also taking notice.

The @UMichFootball goes 75 yards as JJ McCarthy is so poised & skilled / great pass for score to TE Luke Schoonmaker . Maize & Blue lead 14-10 vs @BoilerFootball for @B1Gfootball championship.

A heck of a throw by JJ McCarthy into double coverage. Thought Purdue had a chance for a pick. Instead it’s a touchdown.

JJ McCarthy was 100% toying with the Purdue defender that was blitzing on that play. Baited him, took off at the right moment to buy himself maximum time and delivered a bullet to Luke Schoonmaker for 6.
McCarthy looking very comfortable and confident after last week’s big win.

JJ McCarthy’s ability to detect pressure, escape, and still deliver an accurate ball is so special.

JJ McCarthy decided he wanted to be Patrick Mahomes 2.0 this week apparently with no run game lol

I repeat…. How does JJ McCarthy throw these passes when he’s running away from the attack?!?! #goblue

JJ McCarthy is a freak with his feet.
He creates so much for Michigan's offense, buying time with his legs.
