JJ McCarthy leads nation in completion percentage through Week 5
JJ McCarthy has the Michigan Wolverines off to a hot start in 2022. A big reason for U-M’s record of 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten play is the sophomore quarterback’s success as a passer. In fact, McCarthy could be described as the most accurate passer in the country.
Through Week 5, McCarthy is posting a completion percentage of 78.6.

McCarthy appears likely to stay at No. 1 in completion percentage through Week 6 after facing Indiana. The Hoosiers head into Saturday last in the Big Ten in passing yards allowed per game (277.8) and No. 13 in opposing completion percentage (63.7).
McCarthy has completed 66 of his 84 attempts so far this season for 848 yards and 6 touchdowns. After throwing just 4 passes in the 2022 season-opener, McCarthy has seen his passing attempts increase to 25 per game in the last 2 outings. In the first 5 games, McCarthy has not thrown an interception.
Michigan-Indiana is set for noon ET on Saturday.
