JJ McCarthy was interviewed after the selection committee put the Wolverines at No. 2 in the College Football Playoff field. He was asked whether or not he was disappointed that Michigan and Ohio State would not be meeting in the semis.
His answer was not surprising.
Asked #Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy if he was disappointed not to see Ohio State in semis: “Deep down, a little bit, but hopefully we see them in the big game. It’s the best of both worlds [Ohio State or Georgia], honestly, so no matter who it is, we’re going to be ready for it.”

There’s still a chance that the Wolverines will face off against Ohio State for all the marbles, but don’t count on it. Getting past Georgia is a very tough ask, after all.
This may also serve as some bulletin board material for TCU, though. McCarthy never mentioned the Horned Frogs once in his answer, almost assuming Michigan would be moving on.
