JJ McCarthy and Roman Wilson have produced an electrifying season opener for Michigan. As a whole, the Wolverine offense has also flexed its muscles in the passing game against East Carolina.

In the first half, McCarthy and Wilson combined for the team’s first touchdown of the season and added a second before halftime. Now, the two have completed their hat trick in Week 1 with another score after the break.

The latest score was a picture-perfect ball from McCarthy to split double coverage on 3rd-and-11. Though Wilson had two men in his vicinity, McCarthy put the ball where only his guy could go up and get it.

With the third quarter winding down, Michigan is up to 30-0 over East Carolina. Wilson has produced 6 catches for 78 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead all receivers.

As for McCarthy, he is 26-for-30 for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns. To put that into context, he had just 3 games a season ago with at least 30 passing attempts.

Blake Corum has led the charge on the ground with 11 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown.
