Joe Tessitore delivers epic radio call of Michigan's game-ending defensive stand
Joe Tessitore had the mic for ESPN Radio’s coverage of the Rose Bowl, and he came through with an iconic call on the final play of the game.
Facing 4th-and-goal from the 3-yard line, Alabama faced a do-or-die situation to keep the game going. It pitted Jalen Milroe and the offense against Michigan’s defense, and the Wolverines were up to the task.
The Wolverines stuffed Milroe on a quarterback draw play after some misdirection to end the game and roll into the College Football Playoff National Championship. And for Tessitore, he delivered a picture-perfect call fit for the Rose Bowl.

“Can Bama survive? Milroe running straight ahead, he doesn’t get it! He goes nowhere,” exclaimed Tessitore. “He’s tripped up, and the Michigan Wolverines have done it!
“They have done it! It’s all roses FINALLY for Michigan as they have slayed the Crimson Tide in overtime!”
Not only will the Wolverines play for a national title, but the win over Alabama adds a bit of redemption after a 0-2 mark in previous trips to the CFP. Now, Jim Harbaugh will try and deliver the program’s first national title of the Playoff era.
