Joel Klatt was on the FOX Sports call for the Michigan-Penn State game after Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh’s suspension was announced. On “The Herd with Colin Cowherd,” Klatt reflected on what he took away from that situation.

“They are pissed, and they play like it,” Klatt said. “The players are incredibly focused. It was a bit surreal to call that game and to have that happen late on Friday.”

“I think the Big Ten would probably in hindsight say a couple of years from now, you know what, Friday afternoon at 3:30 probably wasn’t the best time to suspend Jim Harbaugh.”

Klatt then said the optics appeared to be awkward in terms of the timing of the suspension announcement:

“The Big Ten didn’t want Jim Harbaugh on a plane going to State College, and then suspending him,” Klatt said. “I just feel like the timing was a little bit off.”

Michigan improved to 10-0 on the season and 7-0 in conference play with their 24-15 win over Penn State. It was the Wolverines smallest margin of victory this season at 9 points, with their next closest game being a 31-7 win over Rutgers on Sept. 23.

Michigan is set to take on Maryland this Saturday at noon ET on FOX.
