Former Michigan basketball coach John Beilein had some promising thoughts about the Wolverines team this season after he appeared on Big Ten Network’s B1G Take Ten Podcast.

He had a lot to talk about the podcast and even touched on his successor (Juwan Howard) and here’s what he had to say (via 247Sports):

“We talked and (athletic director) Warde Manuel knew how I felt about Juwan, that he’d be a great pick. I had my own staff there. Any of them would’ve been great picks as well. Juwan’s something special, however. So I was 100% on board with that, that selection and we just talked.

“We had been friends for the last five or six years — no, really my whole time at Michigan. He was one guy, as an alum, as a member of the Fab Five, went out of his way to reach out. Would show up every now and then, maybe every year or close to that, just to talk basketball.”

Here’s a clip of Beilein’s comments:

Those are strong words from Beilein as the Wolverines are out to a 5-0 start this season. They have a date with Penn State up next on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
