Josaiah Stewart, Michigan edge, officially declares for 2025 NFL Draft
Josaiah Stewart is ready for the next step in his career after 2 game-changing seasons with the Michigan defense.
On Monday, the star edge rusher announced he is heading to the 2025 NFL Draft. This past season, Stewart led the Wolverines in sacks and was one of the best players on the defensive front for Michigan.
“To the University of Michigan, thank you for providing me with the opportunity to compete at the highest level and fulfill my dreams,” wrote Stewart. “I am forever grateful to Coach Harbaugh, Coach Moore, Coach Roney and Coach Wilkins and Coach Espo for your mentorship, trust, and the countless lessons you’ve taught me, both as a player and as a person.”

Stewart began his college career at Coastal Carolina with 26 tackles for loss and 16 sacks across 2 seasons. After dominating in the Sun Belt, he hit the portal and landed at Ann Arbor where he delivered 9 TFLs and 5.5 sacks for the national championship team for the Wolverines.
This past season, Stewart turned into a true game-changer with 8.5 sacks and 13 TFLs, finishing tied for 4th in total sacks in the Big Ten. He recorded multiple sacks in games against Fresno State, USC and Northwestern.
Stewart has 30 career sacks, 48 TFLs and 150 total tackles, and his departure leaves a big hole in Ann Arbor.
The Wolverines are losing Stewart and defensive tackle Mason Graham to the draft while they await a decision from Kenneth Grant. Considering his stock as a potential first-round pick, it seems likely Grant will also begin the draft process in the days ahead.
