Josh Metellus secures fumble recovery for first NFL takeaway

Josh Metellus is making the most of his time on the field as a rookie.
After wrapping up his career with the Wolverines in 2019, Metellus went on to become a sixth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings. He has appeared in seven games as a rookie, mostly as a cover man on special teams.
In Monday’s game against the Chicago Bears, Metellus came up with a big play by being in the right place at the right time. Chicago’s return man was unable to field a punt cleanly, muffing it away and into the arms of Metellus who secured the fumble recovery.
That makes this place the first takeaway in Metellus’ young NFL career:

Metellus also has seven tackles so far in 2020. In four years with the Wolverines, Metellus finished his college career with 186 tackles, five interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
Hopefully he is able to continue making plays and carve out a bigger role with Minnesota’s defense.
