More details have been released concerning the files charged against Michigan DL and captain Mazi Smith. The star defender had files charged against him for an incident that took place on Oct 7.

A judge has cleared Smith to travel out of state to play with the Wolverines in the B1G Championship game and possible College Football Playoff. According to reports, Smith was on his way to get a concealed carry permit before being pulled over with the weapon.

This shines much more favorably on Smith if true. it also looks much better on the program for files not being charged until nearly 2 months after the original incident, something the program certainly would have known about.

Jim Harbaugh and Warde Manuel have both stated that Smith will not be suspended for the incident.
