Juwan Howard, Michigan earn late 2023 commitment from Argentinian prospect
Juwan Howard and his Michigan basketball program landed a late piece to the 2023 recruiting class on Saturday.
According to Jonathan Givony with ESPN, star Argentinian big man Lee Aaliya has committed to the Wolverines. That’s according to Aaliya’s NIL agent Alex Saratsis.
Aaliya is listed at 6-foot-9 and had interest from over 50 DI programs since getting his eligibility certified by the NCAA in early August. He had a breakout performance for Argentina at the FIBA U19 World Cup this summer, earning all-tournament honors while averaging 17.1 points, 9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.
One of Aaliya’s biggest moments came in a 31-point, 20-rebound outing against Canada. He also spent the past few weeks with the Argentinean senior national team in preparation for the FIBA Olympic pre-qualifying tournament.

According to Givony, Aaliya is expected to provide frontcourt depth behind Olivier Nkamhoua and Tarris Reed, a pair of transfer bigs for the Wolverines. Aaliya is described by Givony as an outstanding pick-and-roll finisher with an improving skill-level.
