Juwan Howard led Michigan to a 75-56 win in the season opener over Purdue Fort Wayne. There was something else special that happened afterward.

Hunter Dickinson has become a staple of the Wolverines basketball program over the last few years and achieved 1,000 career points in the win.

Dickinson led the team in scoring with 22 points. He also had 12 rebounds and made all four of his free throw attempts.

Howard had some nice words to say about Dickinson’s achievement in the locker room after the game.

“Not only just the fact that you scored 1,000 points, that means everything to the program,” said Howard. “After saying all that we have a special gift for you. Congratulations big fella.”

Howard then quickly moved out of the way as Dickinson’s teammates swarmed him, celebrating his milestone.

We’ll keep you updated on any other milestones that Dickinson reaches this season. Michigan plays Eastern Michigan next on Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
