Juwan Howard thinks he’s found a future star in freshman guard Dug McDaniel. He talked about the young Michigan player in depth per On3 Sports’ Anthony Broome.

McDaniel committed to Michigan last November as a member of the 2022 class. McDaniel was a former 4-star recruit per the 247Sports Composite. 247Sports had him as the No. 14 PG and No. 5 ranked player out of his home state of Virginia in the 2022 class.

He chose Michigan over schools like Florida, UConn, Bryant, and George Mason. Howard explained what’s going to make him great in the long run.

Dug McDaniel is going to be special. Having that chip on his shoulder and being competitive, smart, and just knows how to play. Has great basketball instincts. That kid is going to be someone where everyone needs to grab your seatbelts and strap in. He’s gonna do some things out there on the floor. Like all freshmen, you’re gonna make some mistakes. That’s a part of it. He is going to find his way to be a winner.

We’ll see how big of a role McDaniel will have as Michigan’s season opener is on Nov. 7 against Purdue-Fort Wayne.
