Kalel Mullings sets up game-winning FG with dramatic 3rd-down carry
Kalel Mullings and the Michigan Wolverines just won another tight battle against Ohio State in The Game. Late in the 4th quarter, the teams were tied at 10 and the Wolverines had the ball.
Near midfield, the Wolverines were faced with a 3rd-and-6 and desperately needed a 1st down. Mullings got the ball and looked to be stopped immediately for a loss. Instead, the impressive RB fought through multiple defenders and burst into the open field for a 27-yard gain.

The run not only secured the 1st down but put the Wolverines in the red zone. With 3:17 left in the game, the Wolverines had the ball at the Buckeyes 17-yard line.
After a few more runs and an Ohio State penalty, the Wolverines got down to the 3-yard line. Unable to score a touchdown, the team settled for a field goal to make it a 20-17 game with just 0:45 left in regulation.
It was a go-ahead FG that would not have been possible with Mullings’ gutsy running. If the talented RB didn’t give it a second effort on that 27-yard run, the Wolverines would have likely been forced to punt the ball away.
Mullings has racked up 116 yards and 1 TD on the day. The RB has now gone over 100 yards 4 times this season and has been arguably the most important piece on this Michigan offense. The Wolverines managed just 62 passing yards and were still are in a position to knock off the Buckeyes.
