Kenneth Grant and the Michigan defensive front turned in a dominant performance against Alabama in the Rose Bowl on Monday night.

The Wolverines finished the game with 10 tackles for loss and 6 sacks. Five those sacks came in the 1st half, which set a record for the most in the 1st half of any College Football Playoff semifinal or championship game.

Michigan’s defensive front also made the biggest play of the game by stuffing Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe on 4th and goal in overtime to end the game.

While speaking with reporters after the game, Grant said Michigan was focused on proving people wrong when it faced Alabama.

“Our front seven, man. We came out here and knew the task,” Grant said. “The whole month, everyone was talking about ‘Bama this, Bama that. Bama fast. Bama big.’ We came out and did the unthinkable. No one believed in us from the start. We came out and did it and proved everyone wrong. And that’s period.”

Michigan will now await the winner of Washington vs. Texas in the other semifinal. The national title game will be played in Houston on Jan. 8.
