Georgia is dealing with some news to its coaching staff ahead of a College Football Playoff appearance vs. Michigan.
On Saturday, reports recirculated that the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs – Dan Lanning – has accepted the head coaching job at Oregon. Lanning to Oregon was originally reported on Friday but with conflicting reports also circulating.
With that news out, head coach Kirby Smart has addressed Lanning’s status to finish the year. Via a statement, Smart indicated Saturday evening that Lanning will remain with the Bulldogs through the duration of their CFP run.
Though Lanning will be with the team, Smart also indicated Georgia “will move forward” with Will Muschamp and Glenn Schumann operating in a co-DC capacity:

It will be interesting to see how that shakes things up for Georgia as the Bulldogs prepare to face Michigan. That Orange Bowl matchup is slated for New Year’s Eve.
