The day has finally arrived!

It is New Year’s Eve across the country, but the main spotlight of the day will be on the College Football Playoff matchups. First up will be the Cotton Bowl between top-seed Alabama and No. 4 Cincinnati. The nightcap will feature No. 2 Michigan vs. No. 3 Georgia.

To start Friday, ESPN’s College GameDay is recapping the season that was in college football and previewing the day’s matchups. Prior to the show, cohosts and analysts Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso dropped a video of Corso’s early predictions for the day.

Corso started with a prediction for the Cotton Bowl:

“I like Alabama,” Corso said. “I think Cincinnati will move the ball on them, but I think Alabama will outscore them by 14.”

Then, the GameDay analyst turned his attention to Miami and the Orange Bowl. It is that matchup between the Wolverines and Bulldogs that Corso expects to be much closer:

“I’m worried about this one,” Corso continued about the Orange Bowl. “I think Georgia is going to win, but I tell you what — Stetson Bennett, the quarterback from Georgia, I’m not sure he can win the national championship. … I think it’s going to be very close. Michigan is going to pound them and will be a good game. 23-20 Georgia.”

Who advances to the National Championship Game? The Cotton Bowl kicks off at 3:30 pm EST with the Orange Bowl following at 7:30 pm EST on ESPN.
