Les Miles’ start with the Kansas Jayhawks is not going smoothly, to say the least.

The Jayhawks barely squeaked out a win against lowly Indiana State in Week 1 before a shocking upset of Boston College on the road. Any optimism from that win quickly evaporated as Kansas lost to Coastal Carolina and is now 2-4 on the season.

As of Sunday, the Jayhawks also have a new offensive coordinator. Kansas announced that Brent Dearmon has been promoted to the position as former OC Les Koenning has been relieved of his duties.

From the release:

“I would like to thank Coach Koenning for his contributions to Kansas Football,” said Miles. “This was a difficult decision, but it is in the best interest of our football program both now and in the future. There is still a lot of football left to play this season and I want to put our players in the best position to be successful, which is why I am making the change now.”

Replacing the OC is one thing, but it’s also worth noting that Kansas is giving up 29.7 points a game this season with the meat of its Big 12 schedule still ahead.
