His nickname seems to suit him perfectly.

Les Miles, who recently got fired from the LSU head coaching job, has some time on his hands nowadays. It likely won’t be long until he can be seen coaching another college football team (rumors are out about him taking over Purdue), but for now, he’s watching football as a fan on Saturdays.

Miles is a Michigan graduate, who played for the Wolverines from 1974-75. After graduating, he was a graduate assistant at Michigan before coaching at Colorado for a four-year stint and then eventually landing back with the Wolverines as an offensive line coach for seven seasons.

Today, prior to Michigan’s home game against Indiana, “The Mad Hatter” was rockingĀ a Wolverines hat.

Miles is in Ann Arbor for the first time since Bo Schembechler’s funeral in 2006. Perhaps he’ll provide a little pregame inspiration for the Wolverines.
