And so it begins.

The back-and-forth between Michigan and Michigan State ahead of Saturday’s rivalry game has already started. On Sunday, police took a report of the University of Michigan Diag being vandalized.

The Block M that lays at the center of the Diag, was spray-painted green and the letters “SU” were added, reading “MSU.” The Diag is located at the center of the UM campus.

According to MLive. com, UM Police Department Deputy Chief Melissa Overton said that a report was taken at 3 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14. There were no suspects or arrests related to the vandalization.

This isn’t the first time MSU supporters have vandalized the Block M, though it had been a few years since it was last tampered with. It last occurred in 2014.

Michigan isn’t innocent in the back-and-forth, either. Fans of the Wolverines have painted the “Sparty” statue in East Lansing maize and blue a few times over the years.

The Spartans were first to strike. With the game being in East Lansing, Michigan State fans may want to guard that “Sparty” statue throughout the week.
