Luke Hughes, former Michigan hockey standout, officially signs with New Jersey Devils
Luke Hughes is officially heading to the NHL.
The Michigan hockey standout signed a 3-year entry level contract with the New Jersey Devils Saturday after being drafted 4th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. Hughes will immediately begin his transition to the NHL, forgoing his final 2 years in college with the signing.
The news comes after the Wolverines fell to Quinnipiac in the Frozen Four Friday night. Hughes, a defenseman, scored 10 goals with 48 points this past season, most notably a 4-goal performance in a win against Penn State in late January.

Hughes will be joining one of the top teams in the NHL, too. The Devils are one of 3 teams with 50 wins so far this season, ranking 3rd in the league with 108 total points.
