Luke Schoonmaker did not have a long time to wait on Day 2 before hearing their names called in the 2023 NFL Draft! When it was all said and done, both players became second-round picks Friday night.

As for Schoonmaker, the Dallas Cowboys selected the TE with the 58th overall pick (27th pick of the second round). He was part of a league-wide run on TEs in the second round that included other B1G stars in Iowa’s Sam LaPorta and Penn State’s Brenton Strange.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 251 pounds, Schoonmaker generated a strong athleticism score for his NFL Combine performance. That included a 4.63-second 40-yard dash, 4.27 20-yard shuttle, 33.5″ vertical jump and 10’7″ broad jump.

As for Turner, he was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 60th overall pick (29th pick of the second round). Though Turner was not among the top group of CBs selected in the draft, he has the speed and athletic profile to turn into an impact player at the next level.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 178 pounds, Turner generated a 97 athleticism score (2nd among CBs in the 2023 Combine) per Next Gen Stats. A lot of that stems from a 4.26-second 40-yard dash and a 38.5″ vertical jump.

Turner was selected to help out a Bengals defense on the backend, and he could prove to be a strong pickup near the end of the second round when it is all said and done.
