Luke Schoonmaker has his first NFL touchdown in the books.

The former Michigan tight end got his first touchdown of his career on Sunday for the Dallas Cowboys. Not only was it his first touchdown, it was also his first NFL catch.

After not being targeted at all in the Cowboy’s season opener, the touchdown can give the rookie some confidence moving forward.

Schoonmaker’s 1-yard touchdown reception, which came on a pass from Dak Prescott, gave Dallas a comfortable 18-7 lead over the Jets as the game nears halftime. Dallas is looking for another win after picking up a dominant victory over the New York Giants last week. After a solid 12-5 season a year ago, the Cowboys are on the right track to start the 2023 season.

Schoonmaker spent 4 seasons at Michigan, where he amassed 637 yards and 7 touchdowns across his career. Schoonmaker was taken 58th overall in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
