Michigan basketball picked up a strong win over Rick Pitino-led St. John’s Monday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Wolverines looked great against the Red Storm, winning 89-73 behind 47 combined points from Nimari Burnett and Dug McDaniel.

As the clock ticked away, Michigan fans in attendance (and perhaps a few others scattered around the Garden) erupted into a “Free Jim Harbaugh” chant.

Take a listen:

Harbaugh is suspended for the final 2 games of the regular season (and Michigan’s win over Penn State) for Michigan’s involvement in the on-field sign-stealing investigation. He can coach the team during the week, but he cannot be on the field for Weeks 12 and 13 against Maryland and Ohio State, respectively.

But the Wolverines seemed to fare just fine without Harbaugh on the sidelines Saturday. The Wolverines downed Penn State 24-15 in a game that was mostly one-sided, especially in the 2nd half. But against a heightened offense like Ohio State, that may be a different story.

Until he’s back on the sidelines, expect many more chants like this at Michigan athletics.
