Hinton’s pledge came just hours after Ohio State locked up its first commitment of the 2019 class from Doug Nestor, a five-star offensive lineman from West Virginia.
According to 247Sports, Hinton is the ninth-ranked player of the 2019 class and is the top defensive end. The pass-rusher out of Norcross, Ga. is the fourth commitment for the Wolverines of the class and the second five-star prospect. Stephen Herron Jr., another defensive end out of Louisville, Ky. is the other.
Michigan’s 2019 class currently ranks eighth nationally per 247Sports, but it will likely jump a few spots after Hinton’s commitment.
