Michigan adds commitment from versatile 2025 linebacker out of Georgia
Michigan added its second known commitment for the Class of 2025 on Saturday.
Buford (Ga.) linebacker Mantrez Walker announced his commitment to coach Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan program live on Rivals’ YouTube channel. He picked the Wolverines from a group of finalists that also included LSU, Florida, and Penn State.

The 5-foot-11, 215-pound linebacker held scholarship offers from Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, among others. Walker plays for one of the top high school football programs in the country.
He has yet to be ranked by 247Sports and doesn’t yet have a Composite ranking.
Walker told Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich the coaching staff at Michigan views him as a MIKE ‘backer who can also rush the passer off the edge.
“I can bring violence and leadership,” Walker said, per Marich. “Fierce competitor that’s going to really help Michigan get to a national championship and bring a physical aspect to the defense. I’m also be a field general and (ready to) make an early impact.”
Walker joins Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep cornerback Chris Ewald — a 4-star and top-50 prospect in the 247 Composite.
