Michigan has picked up a late addition and a massive piece for the 2025 recruiting class.

Traditionally, National Signing Day (the first Wednesday in February) used to be a banner event for recruiting in college football. But since the introduction of the Early Signing Period in December, NSD has become somewhat of an afterthought in terms of major recruiting moves.

That doesn’t mean NSD isn’t important, and it produced in a big way for Michigan. Early Wednesday morning, the program confirmed a major offensive line signing for Sherrone Moore’s program.

It comes in the form of Ty Haywood, a 4-star offensive tackle out of Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. Haywood originally committed to Alabama in July but re-opened his recruitment in January and is now signed on with the Wolverines.

Haywood is listed at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds and checks in as the No. 6 OT nationally per the 247 Sports composite. He’s also rated as the 39th overall prospect regardless of position for the 2025 recruiting class.

Impact for Michigan

Adding Haywood is a major win for the Wolverines and a recruiting class that ranked 6th nationally (3rd in the Big Ten) per the 247 Sports Composite. He is the 17th player with at least a 4-star rating in that group.

Overall, Michigan is adding 6 prospects ranked inside the top 100 in the country, including 4 top-50 players. The recruiting class is headlined by 5-star QB Bryce Underwood, the No. 2 overall prospect per the final 247 Sports Composite rankings.
