Michigan adds in-state LB to 2020 recruiting class
Michigan has an addition to its 2020 recruiting class.
On Tuesday, the Wolverines landed a verbal pledge from in-state linebacker Cornell Wheeler out of West Bloomfield, Michigan. He’s regarded as one of the top players in the state and had several B1G offers.
Wheeler made his announcement via Twitter, saying “Hometown hero, 1000% committed.”

Wheeler, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker, is ranked as the No. 13 player out of Michigan and the No. 15 linebacker in the 2020 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. He’s also ranked as a top 500 player.
He becomes the fifth prospect to join Michigan’s 2020 recruiting class and the second in-state commit.
It’s extremely early, but Michigan’s 2020 recruiting class currently ranks 14th nationally and second in the B1G. Jim Harbaugh has done an excellent job with the 2019 class, as the Wolverines currently own the best in the B1G and the eighth-best nationally.
Along with Michigan, Wheeler held B1G offers from Michigan State, Minnesota and Indiana.
