In case you haven’t heard, Michigan is a Nike school now.

Let me rephrase that. Michigan is the first football program to ever partner with Air Jordan.

That became official at midnight when the Wolverines hosted a grand-opening of their return to Nike. The football jerseys still haven’t been unveiled. That’ll happen on Tuesday night at a private event.

We did, however, get a first look at the Jumpman football cleats thanks to Michigan receiver Maurice Ways:

For sneakerheads, the Jumpman logo on a football cleat still might look a bit odd. But it’s still not the first cleat for Air Jordan. Derek Jeter was represented by the brand and had his own Jumpman baseball cleat for several years.

Perhaps it’s only fitting that Jeter’s beloved Wolverines became the first college to get their own Jordan-brand football cleats.
