Michigan did not have a great start to the 2024 season. However, after going 2-1 with a loss to Texas, the Wolverines ave rebounded with back-to-back wins to begin the Big Ten slate.

Now, Michigan is gearing up for its first road trip of the season against conference newcomer Washington. There is plenty for the program to continue cleaning up after a close call to Minnesota in Week 5, but head coach Sherrone Moore says the team has tweaked the practice schedule since the start of the year.

Moore revealed the altered plans at his Monday press conference, but he also made it clear that’s not something that is distinct to the 2024 season.

“I think we’ve always done that,” said Moore about adjusting the practice schedule as the season develops. “We’ve always had kinks, adjustments from team-to-team.”

As for this year’s team, Moore says the leadership council and captains had input. And those adjustments were made to the practice schedule before USC, arguably the team’s most complete performance of the season.

“There have been a couple of things we’ve done as a team, talking to the leadership council and our captains. But it’s been good. We made an adjustment before USC, and it seemed to help us,” Moore explained. “We’re going to continue to do that.”

While some things have improved for Michigan, including the play of quarterback Alex Orji, there is a need for further development at the QB spot and on both sides of the ball. The Wolverines surrendered 21 points in the 4th quarter vs. the Gophers and Moore even admitted after the game he was not happy with the performance.

We’ll see if Michigan can come up with a more solid performance in Week 6.
