Michigan may have fallen short of  a trip to the College Football Playoff, but these players still produced a special season in 2018.

Led by a balanced offense and impressive defense, the Wolverines went 10-2 under head coach Jim Harbaugh. While an opening loss to Notre Dame and ending loss to Ohio State will receive a lot of attention, Harbaugh’s squad should be recognized for some great performances.

The Wolverines secured wins over Michigan State, Penn State, and Wisconsin, climbing all the way to No. 4 on the CFP Rankings. Michigan Football hosted its annual football awards banquet Sunday evening, and a number of players were honored.

Among the most prestigious awards, Shea Patterson and Devin Bush were honored as the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year. However, DL Chase Winovich was named the Bo Schembechler Team MVP. (You can see the entire list of winners on the team’s Twitter account.)

Patterson led the offense while throwing for 2,364 yards and 21 TDs. He also rushed for 268 yards and 2 TDs:

Defensively, Bush contributed 66 tackles, 8.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks:

Winovich chipped in 52 tackles, 13 TFL, and four sacks. However, there’s no denying Winovich was the heart and soul of Michigan’s elite defense this season:
