Michigan has parted ways with offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell.

Sherrone Moore announced that decision in a statement on Tuesday afternoon. The move comes at the end of a very disappointing campaign for the Wolverines, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

Campbell, who also served as Michigan’s QB coach in 2024, led an offense that ranked just 16th in the Big Ten in yards per play. The Wolverines were also 16th out of 17 teams in quarterback efficiency rating.

“After a thorough assessment of our offense, I made the decision to relieve Kirk Campbell of his duties and move in a different direction,” Moore said in a release. “This was a decision that I felt was in the best interest of our football program. I want to thank Kirk for his hard work and dedication to the university, Michigan Football and our student-athletes. I wish him well in his future coaching endeavors.”

Campbell had been on Michigan’s coaching staff since the 2022 season. He was an analyst in 2022 and served as quarterbacks coach on the Wolverines’ 2023 team that won the national championship. He was elevated to offensive coordinator after Moore took over as head coach following Jim Harbaugh’s departure.

Michigan’s statement says the program will conduct a national search to find its next offensive coordinator. Tight ends coach Steve Casula will be Michigan’s interim OC, per the school.
