The Wolverines got the 2019 season underway with a victory Saturday night.

Though not always spectacular, Michigan came away with a 40-21 win over Middle Tennesee State. Hopefully, it is a win that will kickstart the team moving forward, and it is certainly true that the Wolverines were without a few regulars in the opener.

Following the win, Michigan announced its Players of the Week for the season-opening victory. Ryan Hayes, Ambry Thomas, and Camaron Cheeseman were the selections, along with three members of the Wolverines scout team.

Of that group, Hayes is particularly notable after filling in for Jon Runyan Jr. on the offensive line. Hopefully, Runyan is able to return soon, but it is a good sign that Hayes impressed while filling in.
