Michigan announces Shea Patterson as 2019 Bo Schembechler MVP

Michigan fell short of its preseason goals, but the team still has a shot at win No. 10 in bowl season.
Jim Harbaugh’s squad entered the season as heavy favorites to win the B1G East division and the conference as a whole, but that strong year never developed. An early-season struggle against Army turned into a blowout loss on the road to Wisconsin. The team did rebound at various points throughout the season but finished it off with another bad loss to Ohio State.
It was definitely an up and down season, but quarterback Shea Patterson was a leader throughout. During the team’s award banquet Sunday evening, it was announced that he was awarded the Bo Schembechler MVP. It is one award voted on by the players.

For the season, Patterson had 2,828 yards passing with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He added five more touchdowns on the ground. Patterson was at his best during Michigan’s four-game winning streak that featured wins over Notre Dame, Maryland, Michigan State, and Indiana. Now, he’ll get to face Alabama in the Citrus Bowl.
