Michigan baseball bested Oregon by a score of 8-6 to move on to the next round of the Louisville Regional. This game was incredible to watch.

The Wolverines got off to a great start. Joey Velazquez knocked in a run thanks to a fielder’s choice in the top of the 2nd inning, followed by a Jimmy Obertop home run in the 3rd inning to give them a 3-0 lead.

A 2-run 4th inning shortened the Michigan lead to 3-2, before the Wolverines answered back thanks to a 2nd Obertop homer and another RBI from Velazquez to make it 6-2 in the 5th inning.

The Oregon bats started to get hot in the 6th inning as the Michigan lead began to dwindle. However, with 2 runners in scoring position Riley Bertram made a great diving catch to keep the score at 6-4 and get the Wolverines out of a jam.

Oregon eventually went on to tie the game in the 7th inning following a solo home run and an RBI double, but that didn’t last long too long. Matt Frey came up to plate in the 8th inning and put Michigan in front with a go-ahead blast to right centerfield.

Connor O’Halloran started off the game, and went 5.2 innings on the mound with 6 strikeouts and 3 earned runs. Chase Allen and Cameron Weston finished off the rest of the game in relief. Allen pitched 1 inning, while Weston closed out the final 2 innings of the game allowing just 1 hit with a strikeout as well.

You can watch Michigan take on Louisville on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
