Michigan blows 9-point lead in final minute of NIT collapse vs. Vanderbilt
Michigan missed out on the NCAA Tournament this season after a disappointing year under head coach Juwan Howard. The Wolverines still landed in the NIT and had a great chance to advance against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Michigan produced a meltdown in the final minute of regulation that was tough to watch. After leading 65-57 with a minute to play, the Wolverines allowed the Commodores to go on a 9-0 run for the 66-65 win.
That final minute of action included 2 fouls for Michigan and 3 turnovers. Terrance Williams II was credited with 2 of those turnovers.
Making matters worse, Vanderbilt’s final go-ahead bucket with 11 seconds remaining was not even a clean basket. Hunter Dickinson was called for goaltending on the final basket for the Commodores.

No matter how you slice it, this is one more heartbreaking defeat for Michigan in what became a season to forget for the Wolverines.
