The Wolverines are in.

Well, in the top 25 at least.

Michigan cracked the first College Football Playoff poll at No. 16 behind No. 3 Ohio State, No. 7 Michigan State and No. 9 Iowa but ahead of No. 21 Northwestern. The Wolverines made their first ever appearance in the poll’s brief two-year history.

Jim Harbaugh’s squad would stillĀ haveĀ an outside chance to make it into the top four. The Wolverines do have a showdown against Ohio State to end the season, which could potentially put them into position to get to a B1G Championship. The Wolverines would obviously have to win out to keep those hopes alive.

It’s worth noting that Ohio State entered last year’s College Football Playoff poll at No. 16. The rest, of course, is history.

Michigan will look to keep its B1G title hopes alive this weekend when it takes on Rutgers.
