Michigan is on the rise in just about every poll and power ranking after a 42-7 win over Penn State on Saturday. That includes ESPN’s top five power rankings.

Each week, ESPN updates its power rankings, arranging the best five teams in college football. Michigan has climbed up to the fourth spot following the big win over the Nittany Lions this weekend. The Wolverines also got some help from Alabama, which dismantled LSU this weekend.

Alabama sits at No. 1 with Clemson and Notre Dame at second and third, respectively. Michigan comes in at No. 4 with Georgia rounding out the power rankings at No. 5.

This top five also matches the USA Today Coaches poll and Kirk Herbstreit’s top six.

Alabama, Clemson and Michigan all had dominating wins this week, proving they all belong in the College Football Playoff picture. Notre Dame survived a scare from Northwestern and Georgia made light work of Kentucky.

We’ll see if the power rankings match the College Football Playoff rankings, which are set to be updated on Tuesday.
