Michigan is expected to hire Stephen Adegoke as its next defensive backs coach, according to a report.

That’s per 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, who notes that Adegoke previously worked at Michigan as a graduate assistant and worked the the Wolverines’ defensive backs. Adegoke’s coaching journey also includes a stint with the Houston Texans and the San Francisco 49ers.

Adegoke was most recently the safeties coach for the Texans. He served in that role for just 1 season. Prior to joining Houston, he was a defensive quality control coach for the 49ers in 2022.

Adegoke would replace Steve Clinkscale, who left his role as Michigan’s defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator a few days ago. Clinkscale will be joining Jim Harbaugh’s staff on the Los Angeles Chargers.

As a player, Adegoke was a multi-year contributor at Mississippi State. He recorded 14 total tackles and 1 interception from 2017-18 with the Bulldogs.

Sherrone Moore has had to make several new hires this offseason as numerous coaches have departed for the NFL. Clinkscale, Jesse Minter and Jay Harbaugh are amongst the coaches who have left so far this offseason.
