Michigan’s defense received a boost for 2021 Monday with defensive back Brad Hawkins announcing he will return for another year with the Wolverines.
Hawkins has been a consistent presence in Ann Arbor since arriving as a freshman in 2017. He appeared in 12 contests right out of the gate as a special teams performer.
Hawkins made his announcement via Twitter, indicating that there is “so much work left to do.” Check it out:

In the past two seasons, Hawkins has been a mainstay among Michigan’s secondary. He finished the 2020 season with 40 total tackles, good for fourth overall on the Wolverines.
The 2019 season was statistically Hawkins’ best in Ann Arbor. He finished with 53 total tackles, good for sixth on the team.
For his career, Hawkins has posted 118 total tackles, 4.0 TFL, and four passes defended. With Michigan changing defensive coordinators heading into 2021, it will be nice to have a veteran defender to help guide the transition to a new scheme.
