A former four-star recruit and current Michigan defensive back is entering the NCAA transfer portal.

247Sports is reporting that Michigan defensive back Jaylen Kelly-Powell has entered the NCAA transfer portal and will explore opportunities outside of Ann Arbor. He was a member of the Wolverines’ 2017 recruiting class and was previously ranked as one of the top 250 players in his class.

Kelly-Powell didn’t get onto the field much during his three seasons at Michigan. In his first two seasons in Ann Arbor, he appeared in 17 total games and collected five total tackles. Last year, he was able maintain his redshirt status by playing in just three contests.

Kelly-Powell earned his degree from Michigan and will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer at his next destination. By utilizing a redshirt season, he will still have two years of eligibility remaining at the college level.

Michigan finished the 2019 season with a 9-4 record.
