Apparently every Michigan player who stepped foot on the field in Saturday’s B1G opener could sense it. They could tell that the Huskers wanted no part of the Wolverines this weekend.

First, it was UM defensive lineman Chase Winovich who said he could tell Nebraska’s players didn’t want to be on the field. He said he could “just sense it.” He made the remark shortly after the Wolverines posted a 56-10 win to improve to 3-1 on the year.

Later Michigan defensive back Josh Metellus backed up his teammate’s words. He said that Nebraska simply “wanted to give up.”

“After the first series, we went back out there, we just knew they wanted to give up,” Metellus said. “You could just see it in their eyes.”

Metellus said that there wasn’t any one thing in particular, but it was easy to tell by the body language and actions from the Huskers on the field.

After the game, Nebraska head coach Scott Frost said that Saturday’s loss was “rock bottom” for the program. While he might’ve expected a lopsided outcome on the scoreboard, he probably won’t be too happy with the poor effort against the Wolverines.

So poor that everyone on Michigan’s roster noticed Nebraska really didn’t want to be in Ann Arbor.
