Thanks to Michigan’s incredible season on the defensive side of the football, Wolverines defensive coordinator Don Brown has been named one of 15 finalists for the Frank Broyles Award.
On Tuesday, 15 coaches were named semifinalists for the Broyles Award, presented to the top assistant coach in college football. With Michigan’s defense being one of the best in the country, Brown’s nomination is certainly deserved.
Matt Fortuna of The Athletic tweeted out the full list of names.

Brown is the only B1G assistant to be named to the list.
Michigan’s defense ranks first in the B1G in total defense, pass defense and scoring defense. It also ranks third in the conference against the run. That success is a major reason why the Wolverines are 10-1 on the year.
Last year’s winner was Tony Elliott of Clemson. The B1G was home to the 2013 and 2014 winners, as Pat Narduzzi (Michigan State) and Tom Herman (Ohio State) took home the honors.
A winner will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
