Michigan’s defensive coordinator search reportedly includes another name from the professional ranks.

Days after it was reported that Kansas City Chiefs defensive line coach Joe Cullen is in the mix, Matt Zenitz of 247Sports shares that Sherrone Moore also has New York Giants DC Wink Martindale on his radar.

Martindale, 60, has been coaching since 1986. He has experience in college at Notre Dame (1994-95), Cincinnati (1996-98), Western Illinois (1999) and Western Kentucky (2000-03).

Since 2004, Martindale has coached in the NFL. He has coached with the Oakland Raiders (2004-06), Denver Broncos (2009-10), Baltimore Ravens (2012-21) and Giants (2022-23).

Martindale has been an NFL defensive coordinator for the past six seasons. An assistant on John Harbaugh’s Baltimore staff since 2012, Martindale was promoted from linebackers coach to defensive coordinator before the 2018 season.

The Ravens and Martindale agreed to a mutual parting ahead of the 2022 season. He landed with the New York Giants. After two seasons, the Giants and Martindale parted in January.
