Chase Winovich can make a pretty big difference on the field. He led the B1G in tackles for loss and sacks and was one of the most unstoppable defensive linemen in the country throughout the season.

But Winovich is now proving to be a difference-maker off the field, as well.

Wednesday night, Winovich vowed to dye his hair orange for Michigan’s Outback Bowl game against South Carolina if fans raised $15,000 for the ChadTough Foundation, a charity devoted to pediatric brain tumor research. That goal was met in just 13 hours.

The impact that Winovich has made off the field already outweighs everything he’s done on it.

The ChadTough Foundation originated after Chad Carr — the grandson of former Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr –lost his battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) in 2015. It has been the charity of choice for Michigan football and basketball programs.

Winovich has been easily recognizable on the field with his long hair and menacing play. And in the Outback Bowl he’ll be even easier to spot. Just look for that long orange hair chasing down South Carolina’s quarterback.
