Michigan earns commitment from 4-star OL out of SEC country
Michigan beat out multiple SEC programs for a big-time offensive line recruit on Friday.
The Wolverines landed a commitment from 4-star offensive lineman Bear McWhorter, who hails from the state of Georgia. McWhorter chose Michigan over programs such as Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, LSU and many more.
He shared the news of his commitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

McWhorter is a big-time pickup for the Wolverines. He’s the No. 385 overall player and the No. 32 interior offensive lineman in the country for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 45 player from the state of Georgia.
McWhorter attends Cass High School in White, Georgia. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 293 pounds. The talented lineman initially received an offer from Michigan way back in July of 2024.
Michigan is off to a bit of a slow start in the class of 2026, but the addition of McWhorter will certainly help matters. He’s the 3rd high school recruit to join Michigan’s 2026 class so far. He’s also the 2nd blue-chip prospect to do so, joining 4-star cornerback Brody Jennings.
There’s still a long way to go before prospects in the class of 2026 can put pen to paper. Michigan will likely make numerous significant additions to its 2026 class over the ensuing weeks and months.
