Michigan snatched a Virginia Tech quarterback commit at the buzzer on Day 1 of the Early Signing Period. Three-star prospect Alex Orji flipped from the Hokies to the Wolverines in a ceremony at his school on Dec. 15.

The 6-foot-2, 226-pound Orji is regarded as the No. 28 quarterback in the nation and the No. 61 prospect from Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Orji amassed an outstanding 3,200 yards and 52 touchdowns during his senior season.

Orji was verbally committed to Virginia Tech since April. The quarterback selected Michigan over other offers from Oklahoma, Nebraska, Baylor and Arkansas as well. Michigan’s other quarterback commit in the Class of 2022 is three-star prospect Jayden Denegal.
